Maybe after I play the game I change my mind about it but at the moment, the Vanilla is my preference due to it's stages abundance. I guess the only thing that remains is hope for Koei release these battles as DLCs. So much battles that will be missed(by me at least) like Mitakagahara, Kawanakajima, Okehazama and Tedorigawa for example, that could be included in some of the cast's stages. And personally, I don't think that this make the game enjoyable to play as again and again you will be forced to play that same stage again with the only change being the character and dialogues.

What do I mean? See, there are like 15 characters to use in story mode and five of them have Sekigahara as the last stage and four have the Osaka Campaign. Well, SW4-II sure got some interesting changes over the vanilla title like the improved AI, new "skill system", the infinity castle and others, but I would still go for the vanilla for one main reason: Too much repetitive stages. Strategy Tomes can be easily purchased in this mode's shop. Players can post their rankings online and compete for high scores. Complete the other three rooms with a certain score to unlock. Players can quit the castle climb by heading to the map's escape point or choosing the escape option available every ten levels.Ĭhallenge Mode has four selections available.Ĭhamber of Trials - Defeat as many enemies as possible within the time limit.Ĭhamber of Riches - Hit enemies to collect a mountain of gold before time runs out.Ĭhamber of Agility - Race for record time whilst avoiding or stopping any obstacles in the way.Ĭhamber of Death - High difficulty room where enemies can instantly kill players in a single hit. Enemies become stronger on higher levels yet they drop better rewards if defeated. Complete randomized objectives on each floor to proceed up the castle. Downloadable scenarios have fixed conditions.įusion of previous games' Survival and Challenge Modes. Players can choose whoever they desire to complete the five stages for each chapter. But I'm putting faith in SW4-II, personallyįeatures new thirteen character-driven scenarios. IMO, if you can find SW4 for cheaper, and on a system that you play on often, then I'd say go for SW4.

Here are the changes listed from the KOEI wikia: Supposedly, the story mode has a better/different execution, and instead of Chronicles mode, you get a different endless/castle mode gametype. I have SW4 and while I liked it, I didn't care to do ALL of the story modes (The Sanada is the only one I have left to finish and they put me to sleep) and Chronicles mode was a bit of a grind.
